Interhuman is a multimedia installation co-created between Isabella Salas [MX/CAN] & Nora Golic [ARG/CAN].
Consisting of a series of multiculturally curated photographs, this project was conceived during the COVID 19 pandemic lockdown inspired by Buber’s focal social concepts of “the interhuman” where the dialogical relationship between persons that entails “inclusion,” or “imagining the real,” making present, and confirmation; the “essential We” or common cosmos that each helps to build by speech-with-meaning from his or her unique stance; the distinction between the “political principle” of government and the “social principle” of fellowship and social spontaneity; and the philosophy of community that led Buber to the vision of restructuring society into a “community of communities”.
Interhuman explores human emotions and communal potential. Here each element is integrated in a context of equality, order and insubordination where every piece is interdependent.
The artists work in creative collaboration with machine learning. Isabella uses the power of algorithmic recognition on multicultural original portraits taken by Nora Golic for the past couple of years, to train and supervise the seeds.
The piece then is submitted to an interpolation process, where the unpublished and ever-evolving combinations and transitions become a new person.
Interhuman is a project that allows many layers of interpretation and the richness of its diversity allows larger diverse audiences to identify themselves.
Exploring textures, rhythms, superpositions, and the unique visual treatment of latent walks produced during the succession of the portraits, Interhuman creates a dynamic interaction between the images, the emotional vocabulary and the machine behind them.
